Hello my Fellow Optimists, (April 15)
Finally, spring has arrived! With the arrival of the beautiful weather it is time for our Optimism to shine! I know spring is a very busy time for many clubs and I hope as you are working your fundraisers and community service activities that you are actively recruiting new members to help you serve even more youth. I have attached a great poster that was created by the Optimist Club of Lancaster – Anywhere, Anytime, Anyone. It speaks to what many of our clubs are doing right now which is treating every meeting and every event an opportunity to talk about our Optimism to potential members. Maybe this is something you can use in your clubs.
As for our District competition, Brooklin is currently sitting in first with 43 members recruited and Milton is behind them with 37 members recruited. Stoney Creek has come up the ranks with 10 new members. Imagine all the youth that are now being service in their communities because of all these new members.
Now, if you are a small club you are probably thinking, oh my I can’t get numbers like that. Well, the good news is you don’t have to. I would love to see every single club in our district recruit just 1 new member. New members bring new ideas, new life and new excitement to your club!
Southwestern Ontario District has passed us in our challenge, they are at +53 while we are at +21. We consider this temporary as I know we will pull out all the stops for the last half of the year and leave them in our dust!
Remember if you want help with NOW programs, new member recruiting, building a new club or just about anything to do with membership feel free to reach out to Denise, Steve or Karen we are here to help!
Yours In Optimism,
